Update on Halifax Student Housing Society Leadership
May 31st 2023, HALIFAX - The Halifax Student Housing Society (HSHS) is happy to announce some exciting changes to our leadership team and our Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Archibald as our first full-time Executive Director. Mitch has a Master of Public Administration from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University. He has extensive experience leading and advising not-for-profit organizations, and currently sits on the Nova Scotia Committee of the Institute of Corporate Directors. As a former resident of Peter Green Hall, he understands firsthand the impact of the work that we do. He will begin in the office full-time on June 5, 2023.
We are also pleased to introduce Rekha Dhonde as our Acting President and Board Chair. Rekha is a trained physician with an extensive background in technology, project management, and healthcare. She first moved to PGH in 2004 while completing her Master of Health Informatics at Dalhousie University. In 2020, Rekha returned to PGH and Dalhousie to begin her PhD, and has served on our board’s Executive Committee for nearly three years.
Our board would like to welcome Monzurul Amin, Silvia Marin-Dragu, and Nyasha Maganga, who will be joining the Board of Directors as of July 1, 2023.
We would like to thank outgoing President Michael St. Denis for his leadership over the last three years as a member of our executive. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to Bobbi-Lynn Keating for her dedication and hard work as Acting Executive Director. Bobbi will continue in her important role as the Director of the Peter Green Hall Children’s Centre.
These exciting additions to our team come at an important time for our organization, and we look forward to sharing more about our plans with you in the coming months.
